All of the songs looked challenging yet fun to play. I am super excited to see how we preform when the concert comes around.
Rejoice the Season is a great sounding piece with a truly wonderful Christmas tone. It hasn't been easy getting to the level where the whole band is able to cooperate and play the song accurately but when we do you should know it sounds amazing. The only real problems we had while trying to master this piece was tuning, and the amount of high notes there are which requires a lot of air. I also had a hard time figuring out the key signature the first few times we played.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas every Christmas I watch the movie and it is amazing so I am very familiar with the song. It came naturally and it was very fun to play I know the audience will love it. The only problem in this piece was the staccatos and slurs they are everywhere and we all need to work on it I find my self accidentally playing a quarter note when it's supposed to be a staccato.
Once in Royal David's City is a beautiful song when played in the right key signature. I like the song and there are not that many high notes but the change in key signature messed me up. It took me a while until I could figure out how to fix it just the key signature change is very confusing and caught me off guard. I am looking forward to mastering this song and eventually playing it in the concert.
Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo is definitely a get in the Holiday Spirit song. The melody is amazing and is a true masterpiece. Unfortunately it is the most difficult out of the four. At first the song goes fairly slow then aggressively gets faster. I usually get lost around 55 then regain around 62. I feel like we all need to tune and learn our notes on this one.
